Aprendiendo inglés y sobre animales con el proyecto ‘THE ANIMALS’
En el aula de inglés, nuestros alumnos no solo aprenden un nuevo idioma, sino que también pueden divertirse mientras aplican diferentes metodologías activas. Esta semana, los alumnos de 2º de primaria han participado en el proyecto «The Animals», en el que han aplicado técnicas de trabajo en equipo y por proyectos para aprender más sobre el mundo animal.
El proyecto se dividió en varias fases. En primer lugar, los alumnos recibieron al azar diferentes animales manteniéndolo en secreto de los demás niños y utilizaron sus iPads para investigar y recopilar información sobre ellos. Luego, completaron una plantilla del modelo “Frayer” en la que escribieron el nombre de sus animales, los dibujaron, escribieron sus características principales y describieron ejemplos de animales del mismo grupo y de otros grupos.
Posteriormente, usando solo el inglés y su esquema realizado anteriormente como ayuda, se reunieron en grupos según los diferentes grupos de animales, como animales de sabana, animales marinos, reptiles, aves, animales de granja e insectos. Trabajando en equipo, crearon carteles con dibujos y las características de sus animales y luego los presentaron al resto de la clase.
Este enfoque de aprendizaje activo permitió a los estudiantes trabajar en equipo y aplicar sus habilidades lingüísticas en un contexto práctico. Además, les permitió desarrollar habilidades de investigación, pensamiento crítico y presentación de información.
En resumen, el proyecto «The Animals» demostró cómo la aplicación de diferentes metodologías activas, como el trabajo en equipo y por proyectos, puede ser una forma divertida y efectiva de aprender un nuevo idioma mientras se aprende sobre el mundo natural que nos rodea.
LEARNING ENGLISH WITH THE PROJECT ‘THE ANIMALS’
In our English classroom, our students not only learn a new language but also have fun while applying different active methodologies. This week, the 2nd-grade students participated in the project «The Animals», in which they applied techniques of teamwork and project-based learning to learn more about the animal world.
The project was divided into several phases. First, the students randomly received different animals and kept their animak secret from the other children. Then, they used their iPads to research and gather information about them. Later, they completed a «Frayer» model template in which they wrote the name of their animals, drew them, wrote their main characteristics, and described examples of animals from the same and different groups.
Subsequently, using only English and their previously made diagram as a guide, they grouped themselves according to different animal groups, such as Savannah animals, sea animals, reptiles, birds, farm animals, and insects. Working together, they created posters with drawings and the characteristics of their animals and then presented them to the rest of the class.
This active learning approach allowed students to work in teams and use their language skills in a practical context. It also allowed them to develop research, critical thinking, and information presentation skills.
In summary, the project «The Animals» demonstrated how the application of different active methodologies, such as teamwork and project-based learning, can be a fun and effective way to learn a new language while learning about the natural world around us.
